This past weekend was the ultimate road trip! Emily, Kari, Emily and I all decided to go to Asheville and explore, no special holiday, just four girls looking for some fun! We had such a blast!! Our Airbnb was amazing, cute house right downtown. We Yelped (is that a verb now?!) our way through Asheville, NC for the best food and views. Here are some pictures, and commentary on the places we went in case you’re thinking about going your self. We highly recommend this fun outdoorsy town! I am going to tag the websites so you can check out our favorite spots!
Our first stop was Farm Burger downtown Asheville. They had all local beers on tap, build your own burgers that are farm fresh, and build your own fries! We ate here around 9pm, we were starving and these burgers did NOT disappoint! Next stop on Friday night was One World Brewing. They had all different varieties of beer to choose from and also had live music. This night is where we coined the term “granola” and what we referred to everything and everyone we saw. We did not fit in downtown with our cute tops and wedges, we must have forgotten to pack our flannel and boots to go out drinking at night, ha!
Saturday morning was going to be our hiking day but unfortunately the fog was too heavy. Instead, we spent an awesome morning downtown. First stop on Saturday was Double D’s Coffee and Desserts. This is a double decker bus that serves coffee, we loved it!
Kari and Emily voted our next stop their favorite!! This is White Duck Taco Shop, AMAZING taco options! Between the four of us we tried fish, buffalo, thai peanut, steak and cheese, yum!
Next, we had gotten tickets ahead of time to the Biltmore Estate, one of the biggest homes in the United States. Our day at the Biltmore was totally worth the $70 ticket. Your entrance includes a free wine tasting at their winery on the grounds. We had the best lady helping us, she let us try essentially whatever we wanted! We all bought wine and were on our way!
We came across this beautiful field on the grounds and had to stop to take some pictures!
Gah..pulling up to the home was magical, I think we were all squealing inside!
Taking in the magic…
The theme in the house for the next couple months is movie costumes, each room was set up with the attire from a mid century movie, we LOVED all the costumes and gorgeous flower arrangements.
They had a kitchen specifically for rotisserie chicken, what?!?
This was the family pool…
This view was taken out of one of the bedroom windows, I would love waking up to this everyday!
After touring the house, we headed down to visit the gardens on the grounds. The Biltmore consists of 125,000 acres, WOW!
Our next stop was going back downtown to the Sky Bar. The sky bar used to be a fire escape and they turned it into a bar that serves specialty cocktails. You ride up to the bar in a gold elevator and stand on the fire escape. A bartender comes to you to take your order. While you wait, you have a full view of downtown Asheville. We LOVED hanging out together and watching the clouds come in while drinking our fun drinks.
Next up was the famous Wicked Weed Brewery! Wicked Weed is famous for their sour beers which is one of my favorite types of beer, I was in heaven! The brewery was filled with young people, we had a blast!!
Our last stop before we left on Sunday, was my personal favorite. We went to a breakfast spot called Biscuit Heads. They serve biscuits well…the size of your head! You can get ANYTHING on them and their specialties are things like mimosa fried chicken biscuit, country ham, and pulled pork! Their grits are amazing and the service was some of the best around. This was the perfect way to end our trip and get ready for our 6 hour rainy drive home.
Thanks again to Emily, Kari, and Emily for an amazing weekend. If you’re planning on going to Asheville anytime soon, you will not be disappointed!
