Hi there, I’m Ashley Edmunds and I photograph weddings all over the world but my heart is in Virginia.
I grew up in Richmond, lived in the heart of Shenandoah for 7 years, and then found my way back to Richmond. Once you get to know me, you’ll see I’m a little Richmond obsessed. I can help you find the best restaurant, park, or brewery for any part of this wonderful city. I love photographing weddings here at home, in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, DC, and beyond! When I’m not photographing weddings I’m most likely chasing River, my yellow lab trying to get a shoe out of his mouth, teaching my high school kiddos, or traveling with my amazing fiance Craig.
It’s time again for my favorite post of the whole year- Bride and Groom Superlatives 2019!!! This is my fourth full year photographing weddings and I’d love for you to go back and check out 2016, 2017, and 2018 superlatives. This year was by far my best year in business. I had an absolute blast with all of these amazing couples. Each of your weddings was so incredibly special!! So far 2020 has a lot in store but also a lot to live up to. Here we go, 2019 superlatives!!! (Weddings in order that they happened throughout the year)
Everette and Brittany- Best “I’m Here to Party Wedding” & Best Vows
Brittany and Everette sure do know how to throw a party. I can truly say their wedding was the party of the year for myself and all of their family and friends. The dance floor was full the entire night. It felt like the biggest reunion for all of their friends. I need to invite some of your friends to my wedding one day to get the party started, cough Dobson, cough, ha! Not only did they have an amazing party but they also had the most sentimental first look with each other earlier in the day and personal written vows. Their ceremony was very sentimental because they included a lot of personal touches. This can be hard to do in a ceremony but Brittany and Everette did it with ease. It was so neat to see a little more into the relationship the two of you have. You really are each other’s better half.
Joseph & Zoya- Most Joy & Most Unique
Joseph and Zoya got married at the Harrisonburg Country Club and it was so joyful!!! I feel like Zoya had this smile below glued onto her fast the entire day. A little secret not many people know is that I was actually sick the day I photographed this wedding. It was the PERFECT wedding to have to shoot sick because I couldn’t help but smile all day being around Zoya and Joseph. Yall’s joy was contagious which was shown on the faces of every single one of your guests. These two also win the most unique wedding. Zoya is very artistic and that was shown throughout the whole day. Your dress, the alter, your beautiful flowers were all unique and made my day so much fun. A lot of times there are trends throughout the year so every wedding I photograph has the same theme/colors. This was not the case with Zoya and Joseph. They went for bold and bright and I loved every second of it. Thank you guys for having SO much joy and character in your perfect day.
Hank & Kylene- Most Sentimental & Best Reception
Thank goodness I was hiding behind my camera during this wedding because I had many moments of tears. Watching you two pray together, be gifted a beautiful bible, see each other for the first time, and spend the day with your family and friends was so special. When I think of the two of you I think of the legacy you will create in the years to come. Hank and Kylene got married at their home in Mechanicsville. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony and reception. They had to bring in each and every thing that made their backyard a good fit for the party of the year. They built a huge bar on their deck and had a gorgeous white tent that was decorated and full of lights. I hope you all can reminisce on this wonderful day every time that you walk through your front or backyard. I also had a blast taking detail photos in their farmhouse. These two had a very emotional and amazing wedding!
Cody and Katie- Best Planned & Most Elegant
Cody and Katie got married at the beautiful Mankin Mansion. Katie is a natural beauty and actually worked at the bridal shop that she got her dress from. She was made to be a bride. You and your bridesmaids were so beautiful and made for some true elegant photos. Every detail of yalls wedding was completely thought out. As a vendor, this made my job so easy. I had the perfect amount of time to take photos of everything that was going on. You two put so much thought into your day and wanted the best experience for your guests. From the yard games, to the beautiful outdoor bar, to the dance floor that was always full- your wedding was pure FUN! I loved watching everyone’s reaction to how beautiful your wedding turned out. The love that you two share was contagious and your day is one I will never forget!
Krystina & Beth- Most Welcoming & Most Relaxed
Krystina and Beth are two of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met. They met me at the door and even had a place card for me to sit at a table with their teacher friends that they thought I would like. Not only were they welcoming to me, but their guests felt right at home as well. Everyone was so amazed to see a wedding in the Altria Theater, it was surreal! Krystina and Beth were also very relaxed and easy going which made for a great day for everyone. Their main goal of the day was to be married and that was evident by their love for each other. I was so thankful to work for two amazing people.
Daniel & Ally- Best Surrounding Team & Best First Dances
Daniel and Ally have the best friends hands down. I’ve never seen friends and family more excited for two people to get married. Daniel and Ally have a lot of mutual friends so everyone knew each other. We had friends helping me throughout the day, singing a duet at the reception, babysitting their son, going hard on the dance floor, and more!! I hope one day when I get married I have a wedding party and guests like you two did. I also can’t mention this wedding without talking about the first dances. Ally and Daniel shared their first dance with their son, it was so adorable. Then the daddy daughter and mother son dances were filled with so much emotion. There wasn’t a dry eye in the whole room!!! Daniel and Ally- it say’s something about you two that you surround yourself with amazing people. Thanks for such an incredible day!
Thank you so much to each of you, I’m so thankful that you trusted me to photograph your wedding!
