I have been counting down for this day for SO long!!! Matt and Mackenzie were originally supposed to be married February 13th, 2021. Unfortunately, there was still a guest limit at this point and big events weren’t happening. Another, crazy thing is February 13th there was a huge ICE STORM in Richmond so being with Matt and Mackenzie on September 26th in the beautiful weather was really full circle. I was praying that God would at least give them good weather and man he provided! We had a beautiful day at Alturia Farms with incredible vendors. I have linked all of their sites below.
Matt and Mackenzie’s journey started at JMU, go dukes!!! They had purple and gold streamers thrown at them leaving their ceremony and they had the duke dog mascot and flag at their reception. They also got engaged while attending a JMU football game so they were already one of my favorites when I got their initial email. A neat thing about this wedding is I truly feel like Mackenzie and I have become friends during her journey as a bride. I always take pride and want a friendship with my couples but that definitely came to fruition with Mackenzie and Matt. Mackenzie and I would text each other excited texts leading up to the day and we both navigated planning a wedding during a virus!
A few things that I will never forget about this day: Mackenzie and her dad arriving to the ceremony in a HORSE AND CARRIAGE. The moment was so special and the guests were all so shocked (in the best way), Matt and Mackenzie’s last dance while their guests were doing sparklers, seeing another one of my AE bride and grooms as guests, and meeting all of Matt and Mackenzie’s amazing family and friends. You two really do surround yourself by the best people. I hope you two had the best time in St. Lucia and I am honored to capture your best day yet!! Enjoy!
Mackenzie- your laugh lit up the day!!!! Obsessed!
Daddy daughter first looks are a must!!
What an incredible family that owns Alturia, they are so welcoming!!
Matt- that look from your brother was so special!
This was my second wedding that’s had JMU streamers, I LOVED it!
Horse and carriage ride?! You are a true princess in every way Mackenzie!
They may have had to postpone but the burying the bourbon tradition worked with the weather!
Mackenzie is an art teacher and her artistic touches were everywhere!!
So I’ll admit- I had my doubts about how this party would be considering the wedding was on a Sunday evening but man, yall’s friends and families showed up!!! It was an incredible dance party!
Last song of the night was just reserved for Matt and Mackenzie while everyone else got sparklers, I love this!
