When I first read Sarah and Carter’s email inquiry about a year ago, I literally squealed!! My whole life I’ve grown up spending summers at the river in Gloucester and walking around Yorktown beach at night. Sarah actually grew up living on the river in Gloucester about .5 miles from our summer home. The venue she got married at is on Yorktown beach, which her and I can both see from our Gloucester homes! As a little girl I would always watch weddings happen at the Freight Shed and thought I wanted my wedding to be there one day. When it came time to book a venue, we needed a space a little larger so it didn’t work out but I’m SO glad it worked out for Sarah and Carter because their wedding was perfect!!
The forecast was calling for rain all day but as multiple people pointed out, God was looking out for them. It rained all morning right until we needed to start taking portraits. We got through photos and the ceremony (yes, it was a little cold and foggy but at least it wasn’t raining), and then it rained again while everyone was eating dinner. It cleared up for sunset and people to enjoy being outside at night, it was perfect!!
I can’t show you the photos until I mention that Sarah and Carter have been together for TEN YEARS!!! What an incredible accomplishment and testament to them as a couple. A few moments from this wedding I’ll never forget are the sister bond between Sarah and her two sisters, the way the fog and rain lifted at the perfect time, and Carter’s dance moves!! I had no idea Carter could dance but it was so much fun watching! Enjoy and hope you two had a blast in Florida!
Side note- When brides tell me they are getting ready in a hotel room, I usually am a little bummed just because a lot of hotels have red shag carpet, not great light, etc. BUT I take back everything I said because the DoubleTree in Williamsburg was a beautiful space to get ready. Lots of clean light which made me happy!
Sarah- you are a STUNNING bride!
One thing I try my hardest to do at every wedding is get a photo of the bride and groom’s parents! When else do they get this dressed up?!
